Ireland
Renowned the world over for its warmth, hospitality, unrivaled infrastructure and unique culture, it’s little wonder that Ireland is considered The Event Island. From its cosmopolitan cities to stunning seascapes, captivating cliffs to lush mountain tops, events held here take on the very essence of their surroundings. International championships in particular excel in our world-class infrastructure with vibrant people and a landscape that never fails to inspire. We will bring to this event a style and spirit that’s uniquely Irish. A deeply passionate nation, we adore being part of a crowd that roars with unwavering support. Irish hearts, like Irish doors, are always open.
Dún Laoghaire
Considered as the sailing and leisure capital of Ireland, Dun Laoghaire is located on the outskirts of Dublin. It offers sailors, officials and families a uniquely compact site – with easy circulation between the accommodation, dinghy park, and social/dining areas. The championship venue is a short distance from the sailing area, airport and capital city of Dublin.
Event Hosts
The Laser 4.7 World Championship takes place in Dún Laoghaire harbour from 7th to 14th August 2021. This is the third time in five years that Ireland has been chosen to host a Laser Worlds event – the Laser Radial Worlds were held in Dun Laoghaire in summer 2016, and the Laser Masters Worlds were held here in autumn 2018.
The event will be hosted by The Royal St. George Yacht Club and the National Yacht Club. The Clubs are based in Dun Laoghaire Harbour which is adjacent to the superb sailing waters of Dublin Bay on the East coast of Ireland, and have many years of experience hosting major international sailing events. The event is supported by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and Fáilte Ireland.
Laser Spares Shop
CH Marine, the Laser Agent for the Republic of Ireland, will be on site for the duration of the championship with a full range of spares and equipment. They will be located in the Boat Park. There is also a local Chandlers; Viking Marine centrally situated less than two minutes from each of the clubs.
Visiting Families
A ‘Meet and Greet Team’ formed from club members will coordinate a programme of activities and entertainment for visiting friends and families, and be on hand each race day in a central meeting area in the waterfront clubs. An attractive range of visitor attractions will be put in place for the Lay Day in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland, the Irish Tourist Board and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. All details of accommodation available for the Event can be seen Here.
